The Ecco Stove Masonry Heater has a fantastic range in heat distribution, but sometimes even the Ecco Stove can’t reach certain areas of a home, whether it is because the room is too far away or simply the door to the room needs to remain closed. The hot box is a simple hollow module that can be added to the top of the stove and connected to a ducted passive or fan assisted system. Watch this quick example video with a recent temperature test we carried out. If you would like to know more visit eccostove.com

The Ecco Stove E850 was the first in the range and helped pave the way for the very successful E678 model. Heating up to a 280m² area (up to 14-15 rooms) the E850 is perfect for large homes or public spaces such as Garden Centres and Restaurants. Able to deliver balanced, comfortable heat without overheating the area the E850 delivers its charged heat for up to 7 hours after the fire has gone out.

The ECCO 678 from Ecco Stoves is one of the larger models in the range with a rated power output of 9.4kW. We have been getting used to the operation of this newly installed stove for over a month and we are really impressed with its heating ability. It truly heats a massive area for a full 24 hours and the radiant heat does permeate along corridors and into rooms that it just wouldn’t be possible to warm with a traditional cast iron log burner.

Its an expensive bit of kit, this model fitted was a little under £8500 which really is probably double the cost of an equivalent output cast iron or steel log burner, but you are not just buying a large output log burner, you are buying a heating system which can operate 24 hours a day and replace or relegate your oil or gas heating system to being a backup.

This unit is unusual in having the external air vent system fitted, this takes cold air from outside the building directly into the Ecco stove for combustion, so none of the warm room air is lost. It also negates the need to have a drafty air brick or vent fitted in the room, both these things I believe improve the heating ability of the unit.

The other point covered in the video is advice on sitting the stove free standing in a room, versus standing in a fireplace, inglenook, or recess. A lot of radiant heat comes out of the sides of this unit which are the hottest parts during firing. This unit is heating a massive volume in this 90-square-meter barn and the adjoining cottage. In fact, it gets really warm and I would use the survey service offered by the company and take their advice on positioning the stove in your home, and not fitting an overly powerful unit in a small room.
